Don't Let Your 2016 Dental Benefits Disappear

ready for the holidays

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and we all know it is the 'kick-off' of the Holiday Season. The next several weeks will be filled with shopping, cooking, baking, and family gatherings. At A+ Dental, we have a sincere wish for joy and peace to all of our patients this season, and into 2017.

As you are making your holiday preparations, basting the turkey and wrapping the gifts, take just a minute to think about your dental plan. Certain provisions are covered according to the calendar year and you don't want to miss out on certain benefits.

Get Your Teeth Cleaned

Most dental insurance plans pay in full for two regular dental cleanings and two dental check- ups per calendar year. This benefit is designed to keep you right on track with your regular dental care. If you are now due or overdue for your dental check-up, take advantage of this covered service now, before it expires at the end of the year.

Start on Restorative Work Now

Have you been putting off dental work like fillings, crowns or a root canal? When your teeth need more complex repairs, the cost is often hard to swallow. Because most insurance plans pay based on an annual maximum benefit, you may have funds available to use in 2016, which will disappear on the New Year. Starting on extensive treatment now, and finishing it in 2017 can help maximize the payout by insurance, reducing your out of pocket expense. Using the benefits remaining for this calendar year on dental work done in this year, and then doing the rest of the work in 2017 can make a big difference in the amount you pay.

HSA and Flex Accounts Can be Used for Dental Work

Many employers provide expense accounts to cover deductibles, non-covered medical and dental services. Many of these plans have a "use it or lose it" policy. If your funds are set to expire with 2016, keep in mind that you can use them to pay for your needed dental work.
